Happiest Moments of Our Lives

The happiest moments of our lives aren't about the person, place or thing in the moment. The happiness doesn't come from what we are doing or where we are, it's about how we feel, isn't it? While reading 'Seat of the Soul', I thought about my soul journey and all the experiences I've had so far. I began recounting the 'happiest' times.

Helping my mom clean the house - I felt special, important and capable.

Learning to ride my bike when I was 4 - I felt brave and accomplished and my Dad was proud.

Playing and listening to music on light up speakers with my best friend in first grade - I felt free and independent.

My mom and I singing at the top of our lungs in her car - I felt bonded, free and admired.

Receiving a beautiful handmade top with angel wings from my Grandma - I felt special.

Walking and having meaningful conversation with my children in Yosemite - I felt connected, heard and on purpose.

Playing on the beach with my family doesn't make me happy because I'm on the beach. It makes me happy only when I am present in the absolute gratitude I feel for being with my family. Witnessing the miracle that we exist - together.

The list could go on and on. The person, place or thing can make a difference, but these things do not create the happiness. My feeling and being, my connectedness, creates the happiness.

In this moment, I am writing. I love writing because I feel inspired, creative and on purpose. It isn't because my fingers fly across the keyboard or because I'm sitting in a comfortable chair with nice music. I'm happy when I'm writing because it's a calling for me, because my soul, what I believe to be my God voice, tells me every day to do it.

What makes you happy? What are your happiest moments? Do you notice them? Are you fully present to know what your soul is calling you to do? Seize the moment. Seize the day. This is it.
